101 in 1001

I have always been a list maker in my work life, and since having Avery, that has carried over into my personal life. Each night before going to bed, or early in the morning, I will write out my to do list for the day. I try not to over commit myself or over schedule things but I like to have an idea of what I want to accomplish each day.

When I saw that Mackenzie of Design Darling created her 101 in 1001 days list, I thought, how genius! I love the purpose and intentional action of this list. Sometimes I find myself getting caught up in time wasters (instagram stalking anyone? :) and I forget about the big picture things that I want to accomplish. Avery's Vintage Ice Cream Shop First Birthday Party

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to plan a party. This is slightly embarrassing to admit, but I had been planning and thinking about Avery's first birthday party since before she was even born! I saw the cutest vintage ice cream shop birthday party on pinterest and I knew it would be the cutest theme for her party. Of course when I was planning and dreaming of all this I had no idea just how much work it would be to pull this off with a one year old! Thankfully I had a ton of help from my family. Also, I decided to hire a caterer to do the ice cream. A local ice cream shop will bring their ice cream cart and all the toppings to your house which took a lot of the stress away of trying to figure out how to keep the ice cream cold, etc. However, the morning of the party, I was wondering what I had gotten myself into, but it all came off with out a hitch!

Here are some pictures from her very sweet :) birthday party.

Avery's invitations were purchased from this Etsy Shop, Paper Street Press, and I was so happy with the way that they turned out!

Kris' dad built this amazing lemonade/ice cream stand for Avery's party! I envision us using it a lot as she gets older. I used it at the party to hold the party favors. I did not have a huge budget, so I bought pink ice cream cups from Pick Your Plum and filled them with mini bags containing ice cream sundae toppers (gummy bears, sprinkles, crushed oreos, etc). I tied them up with some cellophane bags from Michaels and added  a personalized sticker to the front. The sticker came as part of the party suite that matched Avery's invitation.

My mom was a HUGE help with the dessert bar! This photo contains the cake pop ice cream cones and cupcake ice cream cones. The ice cream cone cupcakes had pink butter cream icing, melted chocolate, white butter cream and then a red m&m on top.

Chocolate dipped nutter butters were an easy and cute dessert!

Rice Krispy Treat pops

Sugar ice cream and cupcake cookies

We also had some non-ice cream options with turkey & cheese sandwiches and pb&j sandwiches.

I quickly added "Happy Birthday" to our kitchen chalkboard!

Water bottles with the party pack bottle label

Pink lemonade in our Mackenzie Childs server with mason jars

The birthday girl!! She is wearing a Mud Pie dress with leggings underneath. She was NOT a fan of the tulle touching her legs so the leggings saved this outfit!

A custom "all about me" sign that I had made for Avery's party. I was so happy with it that I got a mini version to put in her memory box!

Everyone is loving the ice cream!

Avery's First Trip to Disney World

Hi sweet friends, happy Wednesday! So a few weeks ago, Kris and I took Avery to Disney World for the first time! We had mixed reactions whenever we told people that we were bringing a 7 month old to Disney...everything from excitement to "are you insane, she won't remember anything!". I ran in the Food and Wine Half Marathon which was the reason for the trip, so we decided to tack on a few days at the parks. I figured that at the very least it would be a new experience for Avery and at the worst she would be scared of the characters. The trip ended up being a huge success! She had the BEST time seeing all the characters, took naps in her stroller, went on a few rides and only had one melt down after I put on her sunscreen for the second time one afternoon! We were very blessed that my parents came with us as well...it was so nice to have two extra sets of hands. I am going to write a post this week about going to Disney with a baby because I definitely learned a lot! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the weekend.
